Eve Liu (b. 2002, Yantai, China) received her BFA from NYS College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2024, is a multidisciplinary artist who delves into the profound exploration of self-discovery, our connection with nature, and our existential positioning within the cosmos. Across her paintings, installations, and performances, Eve offers a unique perspective that seamlessly weaves together the physical and spiritual realms.
Drawing inspiration from locations worldwide that hold personal significance, Eve physically gathers a diverse array of natural materials—wood, leaves, flowers, rocks, and seashells—reconnecting herself with the environments from which they originate. Utilizing natural dyeing techniques like eco-printing and batik, Eve skillfully transfers and preserves these organic elements onto her chosen surfaces, infusing her creations with a tangible link to the natural world.
Her visual language is steeped in the symbolic tapestry of various Eastern traditions of mythology, literature, and faith. Through meticulous deconstruction and reassembly, Eve transforms these symbols into a visual narrative of her raw emotions and lived experiences. She seeks to articulate a deeply personal yet universal cosmology, offering profound insights that resonate within the fabric of everyday existence.
